Another deposit into the $20 Challenge!

As I have mentioned before, I decided to get rid of my trash service and recycle eveything. I called and cancelled the service and will have one last weekly trash pickup tomorrow ( I was paid up until the end of the year.) So, today I add the $32.00 to the $20. Challenge account that I would normally have sent to the trash company!! WooHoo..this is exciting!!

New balance $68.00

    So what are you doing about the things that are not recycleable like the polystyrene trays that come under meat or the plastic wrapping that comes around it? I know you can recycle almost anything in some areas, and compost food waste, but stuff like polystyrene and food grade plastic wrapping has to be tossed and not reused for sanitary reasons. Are you shopping at places that use butcher paper instead, or do you have a small amount of garbage that you are disposing of in other ways, like waiting until you have enough to take it to a dump or disposing of it in a public garbage can? Just curious.

    LuckyRobin, that is a good question...I hadn't thought about the styrofoam/ polystyrene. I think this will take some getting used to!!
